Where I Have Been...

Happy Birthday!!! Breanna turned two years old on November 1st.

Walnut Ridge Soccer League
David played soccer during the month of October and November.

Christmas Tree 2008

The last couple of months have been extremely busy. I have finished classes for the fall. Only one more left before my Master's degree is completed. I can't wait. David has kept us running around to basketball games for the last couple weeks. He seems to enjoy the game. Breanna thinks she should be able to get out on the court with the big kids. Clent has had a lot of fun entertaining her at the games.

Breanna's personality is really coming alive. She is independent and stubborn. I'm sure it's a girl thing. She will do just about anything to annoy her brother. Thank goodness he has such a gentle temperament.

First Deer of the Season

This is absolutely my favorite time of the year. This afternoon after church David had a soccer game in Walnut Ridge. It was wonderful weather for the kids to be running around the field. As soon as the game was over, my mom and dad took David and Breanna to McDonald's for some Happy Meals. Clent and I headed home to get in the woods.

Clent headed toward the creek and I headed toward my favorite hunting spot. I did not get settled in until around five o'clock. Hopefully, I did not spooked any incoming deer. I saw a spike and tons of doe. Since our hunting club has been issued doe permits, I could take a doe if I wanted to.

As it neared dusk I decided that I better take the next legal (thanks Amanda) deer that walks out within 100 yards. As the sun disappeared, not another deer came within range so I decided to go home. As a was walking to the Nitro, I saw a doe stick her head up. I immediately dropped my fold out chair and got her head in my sites.

I rarely aim for the shoulder of the deer. I like to shot mine in the neck or head. This time at fifty years, free handed, and standing I hit the doe in her right eye. This was a pretty cool shot. This was the first deer I have gotten with my muzzeloader.

Best Birthday Present Ever

I was awoken this morning by my son pecking me on the shoulder. Normally I would send him to the living room to play or start a movie for him to watch so that I can catch a few minutes of sleep. (My son likes to get up at around 5:30 am or 6:00 am.) But this morning he was determined that I needed to help him get something out of his room. So I precede to his room to see what he needed. It was a "Magic Flip Flop Hat." My grandmother had given it to David a couple of years ago.

After he had the hat in his possession, he goes and digs out one of his camo bags. At this point I ask him what he is going to do with the hat and bag. He simply smiled and replied, "It's a surprise!" I realize my son has remembered my birthday.

He then ask for some paper so that he could make a card. By this point I have realized that I have the most wonderful little boy on Earth. (He did not take after his father. I still haven't received a birthday present from him yet.) On the card he wrote his name and drew a smiley face. I helped him fold the card, then he placed it in the bag.

When I ask him if I could open it, his reply was, "We have to wait till the party." I explained to him that there would not be a big party like his. So we waited till my parents and grandmother came this afternoon to open the present. It was the best present I have ever received.

I thank God for blessing me with such a sweet little boy. He is so kind and compassionate.

What's All the Hype?

I have two friends who are always talking about their blogs or someone's posts. So I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Please forgive any misspellings because I am not known for my grammatically correct writing. I claim to be an undiagnosed dyslexic.

Just a little information about my myself. I have been married to the love of my life for seven years. We have two wonderful children. David is five, and Breanna will be two in November. We live in our hometown, and our trying to build up a cattle farm. We love the outdoors. We enjoying farming, hunting, fishing, and sports. I work as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I absolutely love my job.

I have been blessed with a great family and wonderful friends. My intent for blogging is to keep a journal of the crazy things my children say or do. So beware I will be writing a lot about my kids.
